This solution leverages a GUI-driven record and playback technology that can routinely perform a given end user function or transaction.

This solution is ideal for creating a constant, predictable baseline for monitoring user performance. This testing can be conducted from a controlled environment, which can eliminate potential variables that may exist in a real end user’s system and potentially skew infrastructure performance metrics.

In addition, by providing a consistently repeated testing of the infrastructure, this approach can be conducted independent of actual end user traffic, so, for example if a server goes down in the middle of the night, and no end users are using the system at that time, the synthetic tests would still identify the outage.

Passive Monitoring
Passive End User Experience monitoring measures the performance real end users are actually experiencing at any given point in time. This solution monitors applications through passive network analysis, inspecting all packets, and measuring the intervals between a request and a response, for example.

This solution provides vital insights into network latency. By acting as an in-line monitor of existing traffic, this solution streamlines initial implementation, for example, eliminating the need to set up external synthetic testing scripts. Further, if an application’s interface or functionality is changed, no scripts need to be modified.
